Bariatric Surgery is a specialized field of surgery that involves procedures designed to help individuals struggling with severe obesity. Surgeons perform these procedures to achieve weight loss by altering the digestive system's anatomy, often through techniques like gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, or gastric banding. Bariatric surgery aims to reduce the size of the stomach, limit food intake, and sometimes modify nutrient absorption, leading to significant weight loss and improvement in associated health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea.
